Randy Gay More News

According to a Garland County Circuit Clerk, Randy Gay has been sentenced to death.

The sentencing phase started on Wednesday after the jury convicted him Tuesday of capital murder for the death of Connie Snow.

Prosecutors say Gay shot and killed Snow in 2011, and left her body in the Ouachita National Forest.

The first attempt to try the case resulted in a mistrial because of juror misconduct. After loading his shotgun, Randy locked Janice inside their camping bus. He retrieved a shotgun from his car and fired, hitting Kelly in the chest. Randy was arrested the next day and faced capital murder charges.

His trial in 2013 ended in mistrial due to juror misconduct, but a retrial in March 2015 resulted in a guilty verdict.

Randy was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 20 years in prison, being paroled in 2000.

Randy faced legal troubles again in 2008 when he threatened store owner John Ward. He ordered her out of his truck, and when she refused, he shot her in the face. While camping near the Ouachita River with his second wife, Janice Cochran, his father, Glen Gay, came to visit.

Holly confessed to the kidnapping, rape, and murder and the recording was shown to the jurors.

He served 2-years for the murder of his father-in-law and 8-years for the murder of his father. He kidnapped 6-year-old, Jersey, from her home then raped and strangled her with her pajama pants. Gay retrieved a gun from the back of his pickup and shot Snow once before loading her body into the back of his truck and driving off.

Randy William Gay

On August 12, 1978, Randy William Gay shot and killed his father-in-law, James Kelly, during a family dispute. The prosecution sought the death penalty, but the defense tried to persuade the jurors for life imprisonment without parole. They saw Gay pull into a site at the U.S. Forrest Service property, in Ouachita National Forrest, where he and Snow got into an argument.

Randy agreed to a plea deal for second-degree murder and received a 10-year sentence, but he was paroled after only nine months. Witnesses reported the incident, and Randy claimed he acted in self-defense because Kelly had threatened him. According to court documents Randy Gay, who had already been convicted twice of murder, would fatally shoot the victim, Connie Snow, and dumped her body in a forest.

Witnesses, who were working on logging equipment in the area, knew Gay because they previously had paid him to guard their equipment. In 1978, Gay murdered his father-in-law and again was convicted of murder in 1991 for killing his own father.

Instead of calling for help, Randy put Glen's body in a boat, disposed of it in his truck, and refused to discuss the incident with Janice.
