There have been rare cases where gay men have married women and even had children. Though there are, of course, differences between straight and gay men, gay men are nevertheless men who share many characteristics and motivations with straight men.
When it comes to the sexuality of young straight and gay men—meaning, how frequently they think about sex, want it, or feel impatient to get to the actual sex part—there are undoubtedly similarities.
So I’m nervous to inadvertently fan the flames of scary anti-queer rhetoric. An exception.
I found this compelling, and it made me think about sexuality in a fresh way. Even when you remove the sexual element between a straight woman and a straight man, the straight man is far more confined to embody a role as the strong, not overly emotional man.
As it turned out, straight women did trust advice given by the gay Jordan more than the advice they got from a straight female or straight male Jordan. 🥴
Smelling good is not just about attraction—it signals care, confidence, and self-respect. Way before Oliver, it struck me that demonstrating your love for somebody by dictating who they’re allowed to have sex with seems at best really fucking weird and at worst controlling and quite scary.
Maybe they’re right.
Even though sexual fluidity is now more accepted, I’ve never seen a representation of what Oliver and I have.
But it also feels wrong to hide what Oliver and I have. 🌿
Real talk: a healthy, glowing guy who’s emotionally present is going to catch attention—especially in contrast to the pot-bellied bloke who hasn’t moisturized since 2012.
I often feel like I’m missing some crucial part of myself because I don’t feel very jealous—at least, not the type of jealousy portrayed in the movies. Or at least, not in the sense of getting-married-having-babies-with-side-by-side-burial-plots type of Ones. I think that whatever we have will ebb and flow throughout our lives.
We respond that we’re just really, really good friends. They’ve walked a parallel emotional path.
They’re not afraid to talk about feelings. Similarly, their gay male friends often treat their female friends as social accessories until the men find a guy to hook up with up later in the night. If straight women and gay men focus on finding friendships where there's true emotional compatibility and respect, they can develop one of the most rewarding relationships a person could have.

Therefore, if a gay man were to be attracted to men, but only ever one woman, then he would still be gay. But times have changed—and so has the stereotype. Presumably the second “really” comes from having seen each other’s genitals. One of the sweetest moments of that year was finding the book She Comes First on his bedside table.
Men I’ve slept with before often have this false bravado around sex, like they need to prove how good they are at it.
The queer community is famous for their refusal to conform to traditional ideas of what sex, gender, and relationships “should” look like—and that’s exactly what Oliver and I are doing.
