This beach ispopular with surfers and tourists alike, and there’s no cruising. Just a heads up: the beach has become a little less popular lately because of some rocky patches and limited swimming areas. Back in the day, this was the gay beach in Honolulu. It’s a small strip of beach that’s littered with boulders between which sunbathers can camp out.

While it used to be a popular nude beach, law enforcement has cracked down on that, so be cautious if you plan on shedding your swimsuit.

Kauapea Beach (Secret Beach)

Nude sunbathing is pretty common at Kauapea Beach, better known as Secret Beach, and the views—of both the ocean and the island—are absolutely spectacular.

Lydgate State Park

Now, while Lydgate State Park isn’t a nude beach (it’s a state park, after all, and the law’s the law), it still attracts many gay travelers who come to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Still very cool to see, but hard on the flip-flops!

    The island’s beaches are a perfect mix of natural beauty, inclusivity, and lively social scenes. It’s a great place to kick back and watch the pros ride some seriously intense waves.

    Mokuleia Beach

    Up near the northwest tip of Oahu, Mokuleia Beach has earned a bit of a reputation as a de facto nude beach.

    It’s got a lively atmosphere that’s just right for some casual, fully-clothed socializing.

    Big Island

    Honokohau Beach

    Tucked away in the Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park, Honokohau Beach is a great spot for the LGBTQ+ community to gather and soak in the stunning Kona scenery.

    Just remember, there are no facilities, so pack everything you’ll need for a full day of sun and surf.

    Waialea Beach (Beach 69)

    Don’t get any ideas with this beach’s name. Mondays are the unofficial gay day here. The water is calm enough that you could almost fall asleep while floating. While it’s not exactly a spot for cruising, it’s perfect for socializing or just catching some rays.

    That’s when Honolulu bursts into a rainbow of celebrations with events like Pride Splash Day and the Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival.

    With luxury resorts nearby, it’s a favorite for a beach day. Mondays are the unofficial gay day at Kehena Beach, but you can enjoy a gay-friendly environment most any day. Historically, it’s been a popular gathering place for gay men. But nudity is strictly prohibited (it’s enforced by federal officials!).
