He came back at the end of the previous season. It really feels like we unleash them to just be their natural horny selves. Hulu really supported us, and so did 20th, to do a show nobody's ever seen before... They're so in love that they change the trajectory of the Earth's orbit so that their honeymoon can last a couple of days longer.
We like carrying that stuff along, but our bread and butter is really the Solars themselves. We love telling stories about them being in love and being chaotic and everything else is kind of like cream on top. I know our fans are the real deal. Those kinds of stories really feel like Solar Opposites to me. I've lived with that for a year, because we've been making the show for a year.
They essentially treat the replicants as their children.

That being said, the two heads of the family don't appear to be in a romantic relationship, at least not throughout the eight episodes of Season 1. Both stories end in places that set up really cool stuff in Season 6.
The Wall story in Season 5 leads to a really epic Season 6 Wall story. Getting to do that and see it play out is just awesome. Meet the "baby" of the family!
There's a fifth important member of the family. We do so much with Season 5, so I'm excited for everyone to see it.

Getting that gang all together is such a freaking blast. As far as being a gay couple, it doesn't seem like they have something beyond a platonic relationship. Since they landed on Earth, essentially, the Pupa is a ticking time bomb, about to destroy Earth at any moment.
Although Solar Opposites revolves around a family, they're not exactly an average family — and not just because they're all from the planet Shlorp.
