Top Restaurants in Cape Town for Foodies

  • The Butcher Man - A Braai is a traditional South African barbecue, and it is a social event that brings people together.

The gardens, pool, and other facilities here (they have a full-size gym!) are excellent, and the views of Table Mountain in the backdrop will make you not even want to leave the property. Over nine hours, you’re guaranteed to see giraffes, leopards, zebras, rhinos—and who knows what else—on the Aquila Game Reserve during an open-vehicle game drive.

Wine Tasting in Stellenbosch – Stellenbosch is known for being a university town as well as one of South Africa’s incredible wine regions with over 150 wineries. It’s a refined restaurant serving choice Indian dishes and wine in an intimate chandelier-lit dining room. The cocktail menu comes on a receipt and the drinks are pretty special.

  • Rockpool - This one is a questionable entry here, as it is not really gay, but if you are looking for a good - slightly trashy time, with fabulous sea views and massive Coronaritas, this will be your jam.

Open Top Bus – Sightseeing buses can sometimes be a bit touristy, but taking one in Cape Town is actually a great option. It’s “casual cuisine with a twist.” Go for the food, but stay for the cocktails as they have mixologists behind the bar who really know how to impress.

The Nines – This rooftop restaurant and cocktail lounge not only serves up drool-worthy food and fantastic drinks, but also provides stunning views of the city and ocean.

misterb&b is not a hotel or chain, but rather a booking platform for rooms, apartments and homes and it allows you to book from gay and gay-friendly hosts around the world. Anyway, definitely check it out!

  • Café Manhattan: One of the quintessential gay bars Cape Town has to schmooze and chat with the locals, but they also serve up some good food as well!

The parade launches at around 11 AM from Alfred Street in De Waterkant, Cape Town’s celebrated gayborhood, and winds its way to Green Point Track—a living festival ground brimming with stalls and stages. It's one of the tours in South Africa that you simply can't miss, as safaris will create memories to last a lifetime. With a wealth of outdoor activities available, you can plan your trip around these.

From Cape Town: Round-Trip to Aquila with Game Drive – If you’re looking to dip your toes into the proverbial watering hole of African safaris but only have a short time, this activity is ideal. You will meet some incredible people from all over here.

  • Evol: A queer dive bar/club covering a range of music varieties depending on the night.

The perks kick in early with an outdoor pool and extend to a self-sufficient spa, a well-equipped gym, a sociable bar, and direct beach access. You should definitely find an afternoon to visit for high tea, served in the afternoons from 3:30 to 5:30. The staff are incredibly welcoming and the guesthouse's tranquil courtyard makes for a quiet respite from the vibrant life just outside its doors.

Hidden Gems: Miscellaneous Bars in Cape Town

The above clubs and bars are the epicenter of Cape Town's gay scene!

We drove there ourselves without anything lined up, and thus went to the visitor's center to book a half-day or full-day tour.

The month of February and the beginning of March is when it happens, with Cape Town pride month culminating in a parade and a massive event in Green Point Track.

While it is a little toned down from Pride events in Europe and the Americas, it is still a sexy time with a smorgasbord of love all around in the air!

It is one of the best places for wine to come if you don't have a car.

You can book the tours directly here, but if you also need to arrange transportation from/back to Cape Town, this one is your best bet:

Tour of Cape Good Hope/Boulders Beach for Penguins

We called in from work sick one day to actually do this, and it was WORTH IT despite it being a tourist hotspot.
