Terry isn’t the only homophobic character in the series but he is the most destructive. The end of season 4 features Mickey openly coming out in a bar full of people which pushes his father over the edge. I mean, poor Debbie’s line turned into more of a messy, bad parent, bisexual scribble, and I’m left wanting more for Lip. After savoring the entire final season, I have criticisms, but the one thing they did right throughout the entirety of the show was tell Ian and Mickey’s story.

As a lesbian, I had already aligned myself with Ian being a queer character, so the part where Mickey and his equally deviant brothers chase Ian into a storage closet (literally, a closet) was visceral for me.  

The first season builds on their foil relation with Mickey searching the streets for Ian, suggesting there will be a hate crime crescendo.

Somewhere along the line, Mickey ends up back in jail. Cameron had his first real breakthrough with Chad's role on Malcolm in the Middle. 

In the past few years, the star has appeared on fan-favorite shows like Gotham and Mercy Street, along with movies like The Giver.

Cameron announced his split from ex-girlfriend Peyton List in January 2019.

Ultimately, the show serves as a platform for opening discussions on sexual identity and societal biases.

It’s the only piece of the Gallagher story that got less chaotic from start to finish. They’re compared to an old married couple by the other prisoners who can hear their bickering.
